The need for change or modernisation is a topic discussed in all aspects of life, sport is no different. Many sports recently have undertaken change in their methods of operation, most have been orderly but some have created such turmoil that the media reported the entire process, What brings a management team to the conclusion to instigate change to enhance and improve the operation to provide better outcomes and opportunities to the stakeholders in the organisation? In our case it is our members and individuals who participate in target rifle shooting.

To significantly shift methods of operation is an emotional process, particularly for those who have been part of the management and policy making process for some time Organisations should evolve along with the individual expectations and requirements of those involved. An organisation can stay fixed in time but those within and around in everyday life will constantly move with time

The Council of TRA had the responsibility to determine if we were to start a process of reform. 1 know Councillors thought long and hard as they prepared to debate the issues brought before them. I congratulate the Council on their efforts. The process of reform will be steady and above all designed to deliver benefits to our membership.

You may be aware that this issue of our magazine will be the last printed issue. After a long process of consideration and research it has been decided to publish the magazine in electronic format. We will need the assistance of members to ensure a smooth transition in the change as not all of us are comfortable with the electronic age, however there are many who are and I trust they will assist those within their clubs who may need assistance to gain access to our new format.

David Hollister has for many years been the editor and publisher of the magazine. David will continue in this role and continues to work very hard to deliver a quality product There are plans to accompany the magazine a feed of headlines between issues that will in 'real time’ provide information on events, performances and other items of interest to members. With the numbers of events in the near future there should be plenty of headlines for us to enjoy.

The Oceania Championships are upon us and TRA has a large contingent of team members. These championships are vital for our region and we should strive to maintain an event of high standard. I wish all the team members well and trust they will enjoy their experience representing Australia.
