The Walters team of Cecilia and Mark cleaned up at Deloraine taking out first and second place on handicap with Ray Halley rounding out third. All but two competitors were above their handicap with the top four scores being well into the 600s. Andrew Halley managed to recover from a poor first card to piece together S83 and take out the overall championship and retain the perpetual cup for another year.
Scores did not befit the conditions at the first round of the Winchester Postal held at Sheffield Rifle Range. Only three competitors exceeded their average with any great confidence with Mark Walters once again coming out on top in both the handicap and outright contests. Needless to say that Mark's average is climbing steadily as a result of his excellent form. It was a close battle in the minor placings with Barry Youd edging out Graham Glanville by the smallest of margins. There wasn't much between the girls either with only 0.004 separating Cecilia and Lucinda for fourth and fifth.
A light breeze that had a tendency to switch direction without a great deal of warning kept everyone busy at the second round of the Winchester Postal at Sheffield Rifle Range.
Andrew Halley extracted the digit after a poor opening Winchester to take home first on handicap as well as the outright win. Second on handicap was Lucinda Bennet who has been one of the most consistent of all the regular
competitors and was well deserved of second place and the associated prize.
Any other day, Lucinda Bennett would have won the Macrae Handicap with room to spare so must have felt a little disappointed to finish second after an excellent knock of 582. The disappointment wouldn't have lasted too long though as this score was more than enough for outright honours with Mark and Graham locked together on 571 for second and third respectively. The honours on handicap went to Barry Youd who blitzed his average of 543 with
any outstanding score of 567 (which included a 195 on his last detail!) Nice work Barry.
Lucinda Bennett carried on her form from the previous month's competition to take out the North West 50m from Mark Walters and Ross Smith in second and third respectively. Lucinda's mom Nolene kept the honours in the family with her first handicap win of the year with an impressive 17 point belting on her average. Nolene was the only competitor to better her average on the day which would have made the result even more satisfying. Well done Nolene.
