target rifle clubs promote the education and safe use of .22 calibre smallbore
and .177 calibre air rifles.
Men, women and juniors are treated equally, making it a family sport which can be at a social level or a very challenging and competitive level.
Smallbore and air rifle shooting can provide competition which can eventually lead to representation in the Olympic Games and other major international events.
and air rifle clubs are located in Hobart, Launceston, Deloraine, Ulverstone
and Sheffield. Handicap systems operate in all clubs to give the new and
improving shooter the chance of experiencing a winning feeling.
Depending on the club, there are both indoor and outdoor ranges with distance from 10 metres (air rifle) and 20 to 90 metres (smallbore rifle). All indoor clubs shoot weekly with a short break over the Christmas period.
|Both novice and experienced
shooters are welcome and are provided with a safe and well disciplined environment
in which to learn and further develop their skills.
All prospective members over the age of 18 years would need to be eligible to obtain a Tasmanian Firearms Licence. All Junior members from the age of 12 to 17 years would need to obtain a Tasmanian Police Permit and special conditions apply to this permit. A three month provisional membership is available for new shooters.
